Placement Student- Technical and Design

Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Technical & Design Placement Student to join the team working on garments at Cooneen, Fivemiletown. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in the design and manufacture of performance garments. The successful candidate will support the Technical and Design team in sample development, tender preparation, and product research, gaining exposure to the full garment  lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Support the tender process by reviewing documentation, attending internal meetings, and assisting with sample preparation and coordination.
• Assist in the creation and updating of garment specifications, CAD drawings, and design documentation.
• Contribute to research on design trends, materials, and competitor products.
• Support the gathering of technical data for tender submissions, including fabric and product testing.
• Assist in coordinating sample development, ensuring alignment with specifications and quality standards.
• Provide support with technical documentation and written submissions for tender processes.
• Help source fabrics, trims, and packaging for sampling activities, ensuring timely availability.
• Assist in compiling cost information and bills of materials where required.
• Support the team in ensuring products meet customer requirements, safety standards, and company guidelines.
• Participate in customer-focused activities where appropriate, including preparation for meetings and follow-up actions.
• Contribute ideas and insights for product or process improvements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean activities across the department.
• Carry out any other duties as required to support the team and wider business objectives.

Requirements

Essential

• Currently studying towards a degree in Fashion, Textile Design, or a related discipline
• Strong interest in garment design, product development, wearability and manufacturing
• Awareness of garment construction and materials
• Basic knowledge of design software (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD)
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Desirable

• Previous placement or project experience in a similar field
• Interest in research & development and innovation within textiles.
